It Is Always Quietest Just Now

Empty Undercity

I popped onto the server, just before Maintenance this morning, to check on my auctions, and found myself the only Player Character in all of the Trade Quarter. Everyone else was snug in their beds, while I was skipping to the mailbox hoping that I was able to convert some of my time and talents into a few extra gold. It was eerie to be in a deserted city, like being up before dawn in the middle of an empty Metropolis on a holiday.

That last peaceful moment just before the server goes offline is truly something to behold.

Heh, Lag does feel like that, but as my connection was green, this was just that great moment of quiet.

I have to agree. I haven’t experienced it right before maintenance shut-down, but I did experience it a couple weeks ago when my server (Eonar) was shut down for the migration of four other servers in our cluster.

Eonar came back up earlier than expected– and for about 20 minutes, I was one of only two people in Orgrimmar. Running the empty streets was so strange, but quite calming. :)
