For the guild?

What would u do?

Imagine you are in the AH and buy a weapon for75G. Now imagine that the weapon could be relisted and sold for 600G. It’s a rare, double extra good weapon and I won’t be near anything this rare for a long time. It’s best wielded by a rogue or hunter but would make a great off hand weapon for any melee class. Lucky me huh? NOPE, heres why.

1. I could sell it, keep the cash and buy items more suited to my warrior.
2. I could respec fury and dual wield this baby.
3. I could give it to my favorite in guild rogue who always helps me out w/ quests and advice.
4. I could donate it to the guild and have the GM decide where it’s best used.

All of the above options have a huge downside. I made my decision and I’m curious what u would do?

    Disenchant it.

    1. If you don’t have your epic yet sell it is fair.
    2. Fury sucks never repsect Fury.
    3. Is your rogue friend a “Real Girl”???
    4. I think it’s worth talking to your guild leader about it unless of course your GM is a dick ad is going to give it to HIS best buddy or some RL girl….

Ouch! Tough one. If it were a weapon I didn’t need, I’d give it to the guild. Of course, that’s with the hope that if something uber-sweet for my class dropped and a fellow member didn’t need it, karma would bless with with epic gear. However, if I needed money for armor, potions, whatever, selling it wouldn’t make me feel bad. Either scenario would benefit the guild.

Sabocat, Fury is a solid build for a PVP or DPS warrior. It even makes tanking a little better than Arms because of all the self-healing abilities.

Having said that, you should sell that weapon, Michael. If you respec just to dual-wield a weapon, you’re almost guaranteeing that a warrior weapon more suited to your original build will drop on your next run.

Lets save the “Fury vrs. Arms vrs. Prot” fight for the WoW boards!

    1. I have a “RL Girl” already.
    2. I have more than enough gold.
    3. Our GM would never do that.
    4. I have a Epic main hand provided by guild member.

FYI, I gave it to the GM with the condition that I be paid the 75G that I spent in the AH. I went the karma, “someday I’ll get gifted something that I can really use” in return path.

Sell it. The extra cash makes you a better player, thus your guild is stronger.

I give mats, etc to guildies on an as needed basis. I do not subscribe to the rule that I owe my guild anything – We’re all in it to help each other, but people come and go all of the time. Make yourself a stronger player, your guild wins.

Steve – 99.9% of the time I do exactly what you said. But, I felt this weapon could actually make a difference in the proper hands!

You forgot the “disenchant it into specks of dust or a large chunk of rock salt” option!

But depending on the server (I’ve got characters on a few), I’d probably give it to the person in our guild said weapon is best suited for or donate it to the guild for a refund of the original investment.

What would I do? I’d not be so lazy and type out “you” versus “u”, but that’s me. :D

Even though I play a rogue, I would give it to your rogue friend. If he is as helpful as he sounds, he deserves it, and he will think he’s in debt to you even though he helps you. He’ll probably try and pay you back in one way or another. All you have to do is give it to him and let karma bring you something 5x better.

Ordinarily, I’d say 3 — if someone you know can use an item and would appreciate it, pass it on, probably at cost to be fair.

However, this comes with caveats. If the item is absurdly overpriced and easily replaceable (but rare), i’d sell it and take advantage of the market. This does seem likely since it’s BoE — and it seems a shame to waste a potential 600g on an item that’s an upgrade now but that will be upgraded on the next MC/ZG/BWL run.

I certainly wouldn’t begrudge the same rogue doing the same thing with, for example, a dwarven hand cannon (nice BoE ranged epic) since it sells for a fortune, is very good, but is nothing next to any number of easily gettable BoP items.
