Phat Loot

Although I can’t remember when I got it — some level in the 20s, maybe? — I’ll never forget where I got it: the lighthouse in Westfall. I got it from a ghost pirate, which is maybe the best kind of pirate there is (LeChuck, I’m looking in your direction). It’s the Buckler of the Seas, and it is without a doubt the most spectacular treasure I’ve won in World of Warcraft.

See, it’s a ship’s wheel, right? But you hold it like a shield. Or you strap it to your back and it makes you fly. (In other words, “aesthetically pleasing,” as M. Doughty taught us.) (Also, yes, that’s a Rocketeer joke, too — those of you who know The Rocketeer are the most awesome.)

I carried that damn shield around probably six or seven levels past its usefulness. Then I kept it in my backpack for awhile, in case whatever boring off-the-rack higher-level ginormous shield I was using for real got trashed in battle. Even after I got that prestigious kite shield from the Watchers in Darkshire, I held on to my Buckler of the Seas. Right now, the gift of the ghost pirate is safe in my deposit box, in the Bank, just in case I want to wear it out some night. It is so rad.

What about you? You got some crazy piece of loot locked up in the Bank just because you dig it too much to throw it out?

I’m too pragmatic to hold onto things like that. I do tend to keep useless pets, god knows how many damn cats I’ve got in the bank, and clothes of different styles.

Yep, my 47lb sunfish. Held in off hand. Dropped (reeled?) right after a 35lb sunfish in Felwood.

Vertigan’s Fist. Every Pally should keep their level 20 Pally Weapon.

I have the coins of ancestry and the glowing-light-maker thing I got from one of those world-event elders a while back still in my bank. I wish I’d held on to my Sword of Serenity, though; it was my LAZER SWORD with the +3 dmg enchant on it.

The full Defias set + one black Comfortable Hat. Because it looks cool. It’s like a level 17 set that I never used BEFORE I hit 60, but now sometimes I like to wear it because it’s HAWT.

Me and a friend where talking about this, and he kept Archeus in his inventory for months. He said that when he finally sold it for quick cash for his mount, it was like a family member died. Luckily, he’s got a few alts and kept the sword on them.

Myself, I still have the Luna festival pantsuit in my bank. It makes me look like a musketeer. Too bad I gave away my Defias Rapier to an alt, that would really complete the look.

My Admiral’s Hat (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=12435). It’s pretty much my “how to recognize me” gear for my Gnome Mage. I should wear that more…

I kept my Ancient Bone Bow, my Core Marksman Rifle and my Blastershot Launcher.

It turned out it was smart that I kept the bow, since the hunter class call the Nefarian does is to break hunter’s bows. So now I keep it on me as a backup.

I have a 57 pound grouper that I keep in the bank, too.

I found a cloak that is named after me.
    It is the Sower’s cloak.

    http://thottbot.com/?i=2370
    Sower’s Cloak
    Binds when picked up
    Back
    14 Armor
    +2 Spirit
Sells for 2 Silver 8 Copper to vendors
    Item Level 15

And yes it is in the bank.
