Alliance = Run, run, run?
Having spent almost equal time on Horde and Alliance, I’ve come to notice that the flight paths for Alliance appear fewer and farther apart, especially in contested areas. One example is Stranglethorn Vale: do I really need to fly to Darkshire just so I can get to the northern parts of STV? Why doesn’t Alliance get a mid-zone area, like Grom’Gol?
It probably has more to do with the fact that my Alliance toon is on a PvP server; that run sure seems a lot longer when you’re in constant fear of getting ganked. So what do you think? Are the FPs spread evenly, or do you find yourself chugging along on the ground all too often?
Yes, absolutely.
Getting around in Azeroth is a huge pet peeve. More flight paths in strategic locations would be splendid. Faster grifs would be nice too…
If you think your flight points are “few and far between”, try leveling up in The Barrens. You guys have it super-cushy in the low levels. The FIRST time I did it, there was only a single flight point at the Crossroads. The Camp T addition was welcome, as will be the Ratchet one, but that’s still one darn big zone for a teens to run around in.
I don’t mind Griff rides – I find them peaceful, for the most part. Also, it’s nice to have a built-in bathroom break.
God, I’m playing this game too much…
I haven’t played in several months, so this may have changed, but FWIW I recall the fast way to get to north STV, or at least northWEST STV. was to fly to Westfall. Run southeast until you pass a tower, and take a short swim down the river.
I forgot to mention that I agree with your observation. The fact that you have to resort to tricks like the one I mentioned only proves your point.
The flight points in the night elf starting areas in Kalimdor are horrible. Everything has to go through Ashenvale which is annoying if you’re in Azshara or Stonetalon Mountains and just want to fly to Astranaar.
Yeah, what is up with that? I’m in Astranaar, and I want to fly to Azshara, but I have to fly to Auberdine first? Totally doesn’t make sense. It’s like flying from San Francisco to Houston, but having to make a detour via Chicago. Meh.
I totally agree. I’m currently in STV pretty often and at first I thought maybe I was missing a flight path somewhere along the way… I’m not, too bad.
