Exploring happens outside the game too
So I saw this photo our very own Azeroth.Metblogs flickrstream…
And I though to myself, WTF izzat?!?!
Thus, a google search was enacted and I learned of a quest that had slipped by me in my 40’s. It seems there’s a pair of Night Elf chicks that hang out overlooking a Tauren village in the central area of Feralas. The Grimtotems. And with them begins an interesting quest chain that seems to incorporate one of each quest type.
It’s a tricky chain too, because it dead ends. You are given no indication that if you return to those Night Elves out in the middle of nowhere that there’s more.
There’s lots of travelling, two timed quests, an escort, an unlock and lots of murder. At the end, a pet that I’ve rarely seen out and about on Hellscream.
Keep your eyes open in the game and you find crazy things. Keep your eyes open out of the game…you may be surprised what you’ll come across.
I have that pet!!! :) Re: exploring outside of the game, that’s part of the reason why I do so much wow-related reading on my lunch hour – you never know what you might find. For instance, the “spooky children of Goldshire”. I would never have noticed them on my own, but after reading about them I went to the house, and sure enough they were there, all facing the wall. Quite eerie.
I too have the pet but only because I’m driven to have ALL the pets. :)
My job is intensely busy or completely dead so I do most of my research at work before the next tidal wave of work (that’s already late) hits.
As for the kids…

Aw man, I want a sprite darter pet!
I had nearly forgotten about it after I got my Crimson Whelpling, but wow-that’s awesome. Now I’m going to have to go try to get one. :)
I had the Sprite Darter for quite some time (happened upon the quest line on a WOW website) but I recently upgraded to a new, REALLY rare pet:

This was one of the holiday Midsummer’s quest. It was a pain to do (had to go to four different high lvl dungeons during the festival) but I tracked down four guildies and we slogged through all the dungeons in an afternoon.
I’m a rogue, so I use my vanity pet constantly in raids as a stealth marker. My cool little red wisp really stands out in IF too. I get lots of whispers about it.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone on my server (apart from the folks I did the quest with) using one, so I feel extra l33t. :)
Plus, this one doesn’t make noise. The flapping wings of the Darter (and the croaking of my Jubling) did get annoying after awhile…
Alliance Only… Sigh.
