No More AB Blues

bgcrossserver.jpgI’ve always thought Arathi Basin is the most fun Battleground to play because it can’t drag on, and if you have a good team can be a real blast, although as mentioned earlier it always seems to be the least played. On the three servers I’ve been on, it’s always the same. Well, those days seem to be over, a quick look this morning showed 23 AB’s running on the Eitrigg battle group. I didn’t have time to jump in, but I’m guessing grinding Defilers rep just got a lot easier. Other hordie friends have said that the influx of n00b alliance just standing around waiting to be killed is also quite delightful.

Actually, I’ve found that since 1.11 (or whatever patch it was that they nuked most of the NPCs), Alterac Valley rarely drags on most than an hour or two.

But yeah. Getting into “Alterac Valley 29” last night a mere 7 minutes after queueing up made me do a little dance in my chair last night.

Has anyone tested to see if it’s easier to join as a group?

I’ve been curious about how long it would take a group to join up, but I imagine it should still be quicker than it used to be just because there are so many more games going on.

That being said, I played an AB yesterday in which I was the only player (of either side) for the whole match. So I five-capped it and got my three marks with nary a scratch to my person!

    Thank goodness for epic mounts!

I haven’t had a chance to check out the new BGs yet (I want to wait until I’m 29 as I’m sure the competition will be fierce) but that screenshot makes me happy in the pants. I can’t wait!

I’ve been queuing as a group for AB and WSG for the past two nights, and other than some bugginess the first day that I mentioned before (some people not getting in, some people getting d/c’d and auto-desertered), it was working fine.

    Auto-grouping is the bomb, too.

Do you think the BGs will settle down considerably once the shiny newness has worn off, or are the clusters really going to continue to pop queues this often?

Well on Wednesday night there were definitely more people BGing it just to see what the cross-server and auto-grouping would be like. I imagine the halo will continue for a while, but I think that even after it stabilizes, queue times will be pretty short all around.

Particularly in 20-29, people used to not even Queue for AB because they figured it wouldn’t happen. Now that it’s a definite possibility, people will be queuing for it. Kind of self-fulfilling, in that way, no?
