Cross Server: Two Thumbs Up

So today was my first day PvPing in BGs as Horde. I tagged along with my trusty priest friend and had an absolute blast. I’d never enjoyed PvP really, but this was a whole new ballgame. I never actually successfully queued for AB either — it just hasn’t popped. But both AB and WSG were one right after the other all evening and far into the night, and it was incredible.

As soon as we hit 29 we decided to do the BGs, and below is what I ended up with today starting at 238xp into my level, 0 rep, and 0 HKs for the day. My only complaint is our server is only two weeks old, and our battlegroup is composed of day one servers — so we’re facing a lot of twinks. It’s tough to kill a warrior with 2500 HP when you’re just a regularly geared group, but we managed to face whole raids of them time and time again and come out on top.

I’m sure these numbers aren’t astonishing for old-school Horde, but for someone who’s come over from the land of pointy ears and pally bubbles, it was astonishing for me.

Cross Server BGs? For the Horde? Yes, please.

Yeah, I have nothing but good things to say about X-Server BGs. Very fast queues, great rep, great honor, no significant lag.

All that I was hoping for.

I have also had all good experiences with the new XBG’s.

On my server everybody hates the cross server BGs. It is one of the very few servers with pretty much exactly balanced 1:1 Alliance – Horde ratio. We used to have at least one AV going constantly, additionally several AB and WSG games. You never had to wait very long to join one, no matter if you were Alliance or Horde.

Now things are much worse for us. It takes ages to get into a BG and most of the time when you do get into one it’s one that’s currently being lost by your side and you only get in because people leave the sinking ship. I’m sure the other servers in our battlegroup have a much improved BG performance now. But my server got pretty much f*cked….

Thorium Brotherhood and Alleria are better because of XBGs. On TB, we get this whining about “Oh I miss fighting against well known foes.” You know something, I have not a clue the name of the person I am going up against. I care about Level and Class and the gear they are wearing.

For example, as a MS Spec Warrior, my victims are usually Rogues, Druids, Hunters and Shamans while I have to switch to Berzerker in order to take down Warlocks and Priests. As my Elemental/Enhancement spec Shaman, all squishies including Rogues and Druids are dead.

Names get in the way of a split-second decision.
