We’re All Noobs, Sometimes
I’m not new to the game. I’ve had a 60 lock for quite a while now, a hunter that should hit 60 fairly soon, and various mid-level alts, mostly Alliance. Which may have led to my most recent moment of ultimate noobishness…
I’ve been playing an Orc warrior for fun lately, and recently took her to Booty Bay. As picking up the flight path is one of the first things that you do when visiting a new location, I trotted up to talk to the gryphon master.
Yep. Dead in two seconds, before it even dawned on me that a) he didn’t have the green exclamation mark above his head, and b) he was the opposing faction. lol…what are your most noobish moments?
Not a noob moment, but very similar to yours. I’ve been BGing with my Horde characters for so long, that when I finally get the chance to start taking my Hunter, a Night Elf, I still get confused at the map in Arathi Basin. “Red” = “Good”. No?
Or, visiting the Barrens, and almost forgetting to DETOUR around the Crossroads. Spent so much time there, and then suddenly I’m persona non grata. Hmm.
I did the exactly same thing in Gadgetzan with my Dwarf Priest :)
I died in 2 seconds from the Horde Flight-master and his birds. Problem was that I have been playing a horde character much recently and I was used to that flight-master.
I actually *almost* did that in Booty Bay. (Finding the damn Horde FP was a pain.) But, fortunately, I was too far away to attack so I was able to catch myself.
My best noobish moment? First, set the stage: alliance priest 60, alliance pally 60, alliance hunter 34, alliance mage 19. So, not new to game. Unfortunately I’ve repeated this mistake 2 times out of the 4 characters.
I get to Darkshore for the first time with priest. WOOT.. I made it! Long trip, new map discovery, etc. etc. All right! Now to go further into the continent and discover more! So I walk the long walk from Darkshore to Astranar. WOOT, got Astranar, got Darnassus, got…. wait a minute. WAIT A MINUTE. I FORGOT TO GET THE DARKSHORE FLIGHT POINT!!! WTF!!! I’m such a noob, learn to play, etc. etc. So. Walk ALL the way back to darkshore (because, of course, you can’t fly from astranar directly to darnassus.)
That was with my priest. Many moons later, with my pally. Discovering flight points and maps, I do the EXACT frickin’ same thing. oy.
So my most recent character, the 19 twink mage, I am literally almost shouting as I (you guessed it) halfway to astranar before I realize I forgot to get the FP in Darkshore.
The hunter, on the other hand, is a night elf and so it was just natural I’d remember. Go figure.
