Post-Patch Blues & Lrn2play

Along with everyone else, I suspect, we’re still seeing major patch problems on our realm. Last night, in BWL just after killing Broodlord, we were all disconnected from the server…and couldn’t get back in on our mains. Alts were fine, but all instances were down and our mains couldn’t connect. BGs have been laggy to the point of being unplayable, with common problems like not being able to mount/dismount, etc. I have a collection of BoE loot that I’d like to put in the AH, but without Auctioneer I’m not sure how to price it. Addons are causing major problems.

Which brings us to the subject of why we were in BWL last night rather than Naxx…

How many guilds out there are realising just how dependent you are on addons? We all know how difficult it is without Decursive, but the addons that are working, like CT RaidAssist, are still causing major problems. Error messages constantly, half the raid can’t see the raid warnings, people lagging and DC’ing. And that annoying click sound (which there is a script to disable) and split-second lag (which there isn’t). I think half our healers are ready to quit because of the complaints about healing, and the mages are getting a bit snippy.

Which is why we were doing BWL, which we’ve had on farm status for ages, rather than Naxx, because we need the post-patch practice. And we wiped, over and over again. We wiped on Razorgore. We wiped on Vael, on Firemaw, and finally called it quits on Chromaggus. This is not something to be proud of.

What has your experience been like? Go ahead, tell me that you’re all so l33t that you’re sailing through Naxx with no noticeable change. :(

The high point of my weekend, amidst the wipes and the laggy BGs where everything seemed to be epixxed-out Horde premades, was being one-shotted by a Horde player called Uglystick. As in “You’ve been beaten by…” Best. Name. Ever.

The loss of CTRA was the worst. Players had no idea who the MA is attacking, who are the tank targets and sometimes warnings are on and off.

We usually down 7 naxx bosses and clear aq40 (minus cthun) and BWL in a week.

This week we got satura and sekhram down, and that’s it.

We are very dependent on mods. be it water dispensing, buffing, raid curing, damage meters, ctraid (which was having a huge lagging issue), or any of the other countless mods people use. Even individual people were having issues with their unit frames and casting bars and enemy cast bars and whatnot.

The problem is more of what your used to playing like, if you’re used to a certain set of mods and suddenly you’re without them, its going to effect your performance.

Oh and another thing, all this stupid PVP crap is taking away the people who have gear that is from BWL or worse, its tough to get people for raids currently because a lot of people want to fill in their crappy gear spots.

Sorry that us casuals want to play the game too. How else are we to get phat lewts if we are not in a leet guild.

Anyways, I would like to hear feedback from Risen on Alleria and see if they still have Naxx on farm status. For now, they are keeping quiet.

CTRA bugs were awful, but now that 1.62 has mostly cleared things up I really have no sympathy for us wiping on easy bosses. As for people whining about decursive, I have one thing to say to you: get over it, decursing without it isn’t that hard. I’ve never used decursive, and yet I don’t fail on curing meters and mostly because of that I’m the designated dispeller on huhuran. If you can heal there’s no reason you can’t dispell.

Also, after CTRA was fixed people are still whining about not having mods – again shut up. Why you need a single oh so special mod to function escapes me, Yeah I have a crapload of stuff installed but only three mods are shared from my 1.12 interface: CTRA, Itemrack, and titanpanel. And those last two I could easily use a replacement for.

And again for pvp specs – if you’re a healer why the hell spec non-healing? You’ll do a hell of a lot more for your team healing people than attempting to dps in feral or shadow … I understand collecting dps gear and prefering BGs over crap instances like MC, ZG, and AQ20 (or even BWL depending on your progression), but I never will understand skipping a non-farmed instance for BG …

Then again maybe I’m so harsh because my guild has been so hard-hit, we’re in naxx and at emps and yet we’ve gotten a grand total of two bosses down this week: ony and razorgore, with a ton of wiping on both! All I know is the guild motd is going to be quite angry until things get better.

Dracling – Pissed off druid, owning healmeters in instances and BG by far too much since 2.0

Last night, amidst the depression of wiping over and over in an instance that (was) easy for us, I was thinking…is it us that is broken, or is it the game? If we all need the mods to actually play successfully, then perhaps that is a fundamental game design flaw. It’s not as though instances like Naxx are exactly easy WITH the addons…we’re a pretty tight guild, and although we’re not a famous guild who has world firsts on new bosses, we progress quickly. And Naxx was damn hard, even with all of the addons.

Re: the PvP issue, I do understand that there are casual players who won’t get good gear without the new/achievable PvP rewards. I have an alt who is doing that right now. But it is taking people away from raids in a time when it’s hard to get people to show up…we’re all a bit burned out in the run-up to TBC, and with the added lure of PvP fun, it’s tough. Add the present raid problems, and it’s going to be damn close to impossible.

Hmm… do I farm run BWL for 4 months in case the Smiting Bow drops, or do I spend a couple of weeks farming honour for the GM Crossbow.

That’s the decision so many players have just made after realising how very ‘casual’ it is to now gear up.

For those of us who’ve worked our asses off getting those instances on farm, and paying through the nose for flasks, pots and repairs – frankly – it chafes.

Suddenly the uber rewards become easily soloable – and yes, BG’s are soloable – you don’t need to sort a group out beforehand, you don’t lose out on loot to other members of your party, and you can do it as and when you feel.

Within 3 days of 2.0 guild members have GM shoulders etc, and are on the way to the uber weapons.

As a PVE’er, it makes me wonder why I’m bothering.

Healers, decursers, everyone. Please get Grid and Clique. It’s a little tough to set up, but now with both of these mods I’m decursing and healing in BGs almost as effectively as I was with Decursive and Heart prior to the patch. It definitely requires a little more quick thinking, and has forced me to go with a much more mouse-oriented interface (whereas before I was almost all keyboard), but it’s the only way I can efficiently heal and decurse post-patch.

Thank you. My Shaman is caster geared and thus, I am forced to heal and nuke until I can get my HWL stuff.

I want to be an effective healer in BGs but I am not afraid to use my leet FPS skillz to good use. Thanks!

If you say that you’ve never done the Noth fight. remove a curse off every single person in the raid in about 8 seconds or its a wipe. this happens once every minute or so. decursive is pretty necessary for that, but now we’ll be using the ctraid windows and clique most likely, and even with that it’s going to be tough.

    http://auctioneeraddon.com/

i pulled the alpha build of actioneer and removed btm…
the scanning works fine…enough so it can set the prices for me.
havn’t tried any of the other features. this is enough to get me to next full release.
