Forget those epics, check out my greens

One thing I (and everyone else who took part in the Beta) noticed was the insane stats on the green drops in the new areas. I assumed these would be nurfed to all hell before the release. Well, they haven’t. In the first day or so that I’ve been playing I’ve replaced all the Tier 1 and Tier 1.5 items I had on my priest and my lock with green drops and quest rewards. The only purples I still have on are HWL PVP items, and those will probably get axed within the next level or so with rep rewards or better drops. This is insane. Items I spent weeks doing crazy amounts of grinding for are being replaced in less than 30 minutes of kill/collect questing. Wowza.

Have you done the HFC:Ramparts? I got a disgustingly nice Sword and some kickass Leather Shoulders. There was also a nice DPS necklace but I lost the roll on it.

Basically BC Greens > Old Blues and BC Blues >= Old Purples.

I’m glad to see there’s not a lot of complaining on the part of people who’ve spent significant portions of their lives raiding/questing for their gear, only to have it replaced by a BOE green. For my part, as a non-raider, I’m ecstatic that I have a chance to catch up to those with bleeding-edge gear… even though they *will likely hit 70 by the end of the week. I think that’s the greatest thing about this expansion; raiders start getting better stuff on the way to even greater stuff, but casual players don’t feel like they’ve been left behind.

I’ve seen a few raiders in my guild who are kind of heartbroken to get back on the grind. They were close to beating the game, y’know? They have actually quit.

But I am absolutely thrilled with the loot drops and quest rewards. I’ve replaced my chest piece three times in three days and upgraded my weapon twice. My DPS has skyrocketed, while my crit rate has sunk. I almost want to go run UD Strat to see how badass I am.

I still have Nemesis gear in my bags, as I just can’t bear to vendor it. On the bright side, my new greens are finally allowing me to get out of robes – no more dresses for a bit! The drops are absolutely amazing.

Our guild has suspended raiding for two weeks before going back to Naxx, and you know what? I dread it. I’m having SO much fun right now.

I went in with my pally who has a mix of blues and a few assorted purples but who had not done significant MC or further runs. I almost immediately started replacing his gear with a combination of greens and blues from quests and drops in Ramparts. His defense went from like 390 to 433 in 4 days. And every piece of gear in my healing set was replaced with greens and blues (he’s a pally tank and therefore healing gear is my secondary focus).

On the other hand, my priest is decked in full Prophecy and ZG rep gear and most of that gear has +healing enchants (the ZG enchant on my Transcendence helm too). In the early questing I’ve done with him I’ve not seen significant improvements in any of the greens that would make replacing any of his purples worth it. I know when I get a bit further (say 62, 63+) I will see gear that can replace it but it’s still a ways off.
